Hello Beenburned,
I hope that we can agree that planting trees is important, although you point to other tree planting companies than I recommend in what I have written here. At the Copenhagen negotiations in December this year I think that planting trees will be a much more important part of the final deal, than it was in the Kyoto negotiations. I can say this by the political signals that many leaders have sent prior to the negotiations.

So to the risk in "my" project. All that I have recommended is to buy one tree at app $18, as a test. It is not so much money to risk. It will give the buyer all the official information sent to the customers from the company, and it is possible to study the plans and the fulfilment of those from the inside of the company. If the buyer is satisfiied with the development, he can of course buy more trees!

Better Globe is still a young and small company, but growing fast. It is aiming at being one of the biggest tree planting companies in Africa. Look back at the details that I have written to understand why I think Better Globe will succeed!

I am all for re-building the planets forest ecosystem! There are many organizations around the world that do so. I am an executive in a green tech company that focuses on reducing toner, ink and paper usage, RAZAR Technologies - so this is near and dear to my heart. We make substantial donations to one of the oldest and most reputable conservation organizations in America, American Forests. Every dollar donated plants a tree and you can even choose (if you like) to pick which project it goes too. Hard to go wrong there. And for every new client we make a donation in their name.

I have also personally donated money to American Forests to plant trees because let's face it, they are the lungs of the earth. Without a large number of trees, that CO2 doesn't get turned into oxygen...and we are in trouble!

I don't know of the reliability of your organization, but if it is anything like American Forest for Europe or Africa (AmForests handles projects worldwide too), then I salute you and wish you success (seem to be valid)! If a scam, I hope a tree falls on you.

Hello again!
Thanks for your support, cgk1935! It is because of people like you that the knowledge of the trees' importance has taken a quantum leap ahead the last few years. As you may know, the forests were not important at all in the Kyoto protocol, but I bet it will be in the Copenhagen negotiations in December this year! The Copenhagen protocol is to substitute the Kyoto protocol in 2012.
A company donating money to tree planting projects is great, and many more should do what you and your company are doing. Trees are really the lungs of the earth, and as the readers have read these sentences that I have written here, thousands of trees have been cut, yet only a few planted - in Africa only one tree is planted for each 28 that are cut.
Better Globe combines tree planting, school building and micro finance through a donation programme as to give a contribution to both the world's carbon problem and the poverty problem in Africa. It also welcomes tree buyers, promising them a good profit. This will generate more tree planting than just charity.
When it comes to credibility, I find it difficult to gain people's trust without any personal interaction, thus the reliability must be measured by judging (good) results. Two member groups that have visited the plantations (2008, 2009) have been fully convinced after seeing the tree plantations as well as the other projects. There are many good results already, but things have to be done in the proper order.

As to gain the required experience and knowledge for big scale planting, much testing has already been performed in arid areas of Kenya. The result: 150.000 trees have been successfully planted in the district of Kiambere in Kenya, and perhaps more importantly a well functioning planting methodology. The big scale tree planting will start this fall in the Sosoma district east in Kenya, where Better Globe has leased an area of 60.000 ha for the purpose of tree planting.

Follow Better Globe on the website http://www.betterglobe.com/8812 from time to time to see the development of the company. In the future, you may find Better Globe on American Forests' list, as regards which tree planting organization is to benefit from the donations of its members.

However, the most important thing now is to plant trees, be it in your garden, or even better, fastgrowing trees in tropical areas, through donation or investment.

Welcome to the 2nd Better Globe International Congress in Norway (Trondheim) 26th and 27th September! There you will meet all the enthusiastic BetterGlobe people, both leaders and customers. The participants will get news from the rapidly growing Better Globe forests, which they of course like to hear about, and not only news, but documentation of what is happening in the different areas where Better Globe is working. There will be seminars on tree planting topics as well as personal development, and much fun inbetween. Ask me if you want to have a ticket, costs only about $80, (plus the flight to Norway of course). Your life will never be the same afterwards.........

Hello again,
More and more reports point in the same direction. Global warming is inevitable, and soon perhaps irreversible. Unless humanity, and here responsibility heavily rests on the rich parts of the world, find a new and radically greener way to live. Much can be done both at home and at work, and we can find much to think over here in this forum.
But do not forget that tree logging counts for 20 % of total carbon emissions, and therefore tree planting is important. It can be done in your garden, or it can be done, as I do, in Africa, planting tropical fast growing trees in very dry areas, forcing back the savanna. I have pointed at a way to do it. Think it over. It will even give you a good payback!
