Educating Kids In Green Energy

The wholesale adoption of renewable energy projects could take years to complete. It is vital our children are educated to take the real lead in this doctrine, influencing parents and ultimately adopting green energy projects and polices as adults.

To spearhead this activity educational curriculum, school, teachers and parental influence is essential. To help spark their interest and enthusiasm there are practical educational games and teaching resources to help introduce the subject and let kids see green energy in action.

Keen2learn have spent some time to collate a range of fun educational games and practical equipment to help schools and parents introduce renewable energy to children.

I would welcome any observations from the forum on this approach, whether we have adopted the right range, have we missed anything? The selection is receiving considerable interest in the UK. and although some of the equipment has been available for a while, this is the first time a collection has been focused on single web site.

I think your approach of providing games (computer games especially) and hands on learning is great.

Kids obviously enjoy using the computer, it is a very engaging tool for teaching as long as there is still the same repetition and practical application of knowledge which is required for long term retention.

I have always been a big fan of hands on and applied learning. No one remembers "that really great math worksheet we did", but I think I can pretty much remember every field trip I went on in school, every important model/project I made, and every special event.

Giving kids the fundamentals of knowledge is important, but I think to inspire life-long learners you need to also give them an opportunity to see how that knowledge relates to things in the real world.

Unfortunately, many schools are cutting funding for things like field trips and teaching resources because they are considered "non-essential". :?

Teaching children English, grammar and correct spelling will go a long way in their lives.

FYI-you can download the Google toolbar; it has a spell check feature.

The video game concept about educating kids on Green Energy is a great idea, I think if there were to be some sort of cartoon commercial showing how a "green" lifestyle is beneficial it would catch the eyes of many kids.
It could feature a good role model, like "Smoky the Bear," to show how recycling and even picking up trash can make a difference in the world.

Hello guys,
My suggestion on this thread is provide nature eduction in school so kid aware with global worming problem, recycling and the ozone layer. Also organize the science fair which was a good way for the students to get involved and learn more about it and arrange computation like debate and quiz.
