* Six-flat apartment with only two washers and two dryers for the building
* Washer/Dryer not in unit; $1.25/load to wash and $1.00/load to dry
* Somewhat space-restricted Chicago apartment
Given the situation above, we're thinking we're pretty much having to use conventional diapers since we (1) dont have a place to put the diapers until washing (2) the washers and dryers are not in our unit, (3) they cost quite a bit per load and I guess (4) trying to be friendly with the neighbors and not hogging their use.
With that said though we really would like to look at all of our options such as washable diapers, maybe use a service? Any thoughts or ideas on how we could be environmentally mindful, but also mindful of budgets as well?
Thanks all!

I have to say... this was my first time posting on Treehugger (although I have monitored the RSS feeds for at least a year or two)... and I'm very encouraged that I did not get the [expected] hard-line uber-environmental response. Thanks for being so pragmatic and practical in your input!

Don't be afraid to share on this forum. In most cases our bark is worse than our bite.

Good thing for us is that my gf is an executive chef... so are most of her friends... so a long-lineage already of home-made baby foods!Likely Treehugger isnt the forum, but drop me a line and I can share recipes for things if you want... trust me... very simple. lol...
