maybe somehow filter out the comments, and keep the recipes alone in this posting?

Mix 1/4 cup baking soda with water in a spray bottle. Shake well and spray. The baking soda absorbs the odor. You can also add a little scent if you want.

Spray undiluted white vinegar in the air. The vinegar smell evaporates very quickly taking odors with it.

Dilute your essential oils in a spray bottle, put on the finest setting, and mist your rooms with it. This also works on sheets, pillowcases, and towels.

Well once this thread is pretty full, I'll convert it and stick it into the HowTo forum.

Not a recipe but a tip.
Reuse the plastic bottle from an old spice bottle you may have
(the kind with holes on top) and fill with baking soda and use instead of Comet.
Baking soda goes a long way, so you won't have to sprinkle much of it on whatever your cleaning.

Yes I was the original poster, but I found this, and thought I'd share...

It talks about the different components to the homemade cleaners, and what they can do, as well as gives the little recipes you can make. Enjoy!

To unclog drains:

pour baking soda over drain. add lemon juice and slowly pour hot water down drain to get the bubbly mixture further down the pipe.

To clean wood floors

Use 1/4 cup of olive oil
and 1/2 cup of vinegar

This is a hands and knees job, but my wife likes the outcome, and she did the work, not me, so it must not be that bad!! We are thinking a little larger mixture maybe cut with a bit more vinegar would allow use of a mop for large floor areas.

She used an old water bottle to mix the ingredients. Shake well and squirt on a rag and wipe the floor. She did say it took a little bit of buffing but it really made the floor look very nice!

In the middle of looking for something else (something I'd seen on Living with Ed) I checked out
his website and found this
Begley's Best™ is a terrific all-purpose cleaner designed to replace all other household cleaning products! Discover its unique effectiveness, versatility and safety for yourself.
Made from extracts of pine, de-acified citrus, maize, fermented sugar cane roots, and olive seeds. The ingredients are all natural, non-toxic and totally BIODEGRADABLE in just 3 to 7 days.
I don't know anything about it but it sounds ok.

This question is meant for a moderator... though of course if people still have some good recipes please post them.

Is this ready to put on the How To section of the forum? Also, looks like the other forums other than "Everything Green" don't get as many postings. Can this be placed under Everything Green to get some more traffic and posts?

It is currently located under Everything Green. There are a lot of stickies already. I will get with Alan and see what he thinks.

I was referring to the "How To" section being under the Everything Green section... I, and probably many people click right onto the Everything Green section, and spend little time in the other sections... I'm sure you guys probably have better access to web traffic info though...

I gave this cleaner a shot today. It seems to work good. I did not use the lavender oil, or grape seed extract. My castille soap was peppermint scented. I used it in my carpet cleaning machine, and it didn't foam all up or anything.

Natural Carpet Cleaner Recipe

6 qts HOT HOT water
4 teaspoons Dr. Bronner's castille soap
1-2 cups white vinegar
25-30 drops of lavender essential oil
30-50 drops GSE (grape seed extract)
1-2 scoops Oxyclean (optional)
This will clean carpets and make them smell wonderful too!
